The game was played at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California and was entitled “First World Championship Game AFL VS. NFL”. More then 61,000 fans attended the historic event.

MVP Bart Starr led the Green Bay Packers to a 35-10 victory over the Chiefs. The Packers head coach was the legendary Vince Lombardi pitted against the Chiefs head coach Hank Stram. A young Len Dawson played QB in the game for the Chiefs.

The Super Bowl was named by AFL architect Lamar Hunt who was inspired by his daughters “Super Ball”, simply naming one of the most popular events in modern history.

A single one-minute TV commercial sold for $75,000 on NBC.

Green Bay legend Paul Hornung did not play in the game due to a pinch nerve in his neck.

More then 60 million estimated viewers watched the game from home.
